Wasatch-Cache - Mirror Lake

Summer or winter, if you're looking for a beautiful place to get away from the city and play in Utah, the Wasatch-Cache National Forest is it. Comprised of beautiful canyons, soaring peaks, pristine hidden lakes, rivers and streams, the views will take your breath away. The Wasatch-Cache is also home to some of the world's premier ski areas. Fishermen enjoy the trout-stocked rivers and streams. Campers come here from across the country to hike, mountain bike, ride horses, boat, swim, ski, sled, and enjoy the natural beauty of these rugged mountains.

American Land & Leisure currently runs 15 different facilities in the Mirror Lake Area.

Mirror Lake's area managers live and work at Shady Dell Campground. Located 17 miles east of Kamas at an altitude of 8040 feet, this beautiful campground is set in a ponderosa pine forest, and has 20 sites. Campers come here to fish, hunt in the fall, and generally escape to the clear, cool mountain air. Water and sewer hookups are available. This is a salaried position. The campground opens in late May and closes in the middle of September, depending on snowfall.

Shingle Creek Campground is located 10 miles east of Kamas at an elevation of 7500 feet. Set in a grove of aspen and ponderosa pine near Beaver and Shingle Creeks, this campground has 21 sites. Campers come here to fish, hike, and hunt in the fall. The hosts for this campground also care for Yellow Pine Campground and Taylor's Fork Campground. Yellow Pine has 35 campsites and Taylor's Fork has 11 campsites. These campgrounds are within approximately 3 miles of Shingle Creek Campground. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 25 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 30 hours per week per couple during the peak season. This campground is open from the end of May to the beginning of September, depending on snowfall.

Lower Provo Campground is located 12 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 7400 feet. Set in a conifer forest near the Lower Provo River, this campground has 10 sites. The hosts at this campground also care for Pine Valley Group Area. Campers come to this area to fish and hike. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 30 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 40 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The campground is open from late May to early September.

Cobble Rest Campground is located 20 miles east of Kamas at an elevation of 8300 feet. Set in a pine grove near the Upper Provo River, this campground has 18 sites. Campers come here to fish and hike. Hours are 20 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 25 hours per week per couple during the peak season. No hookups are available at this time. The campground is open from late May to early September.

Soapstone Campground is located about 16 miles east of Kamas at an elevation of 7900 feet. Set in a ponderosa pine and aspen forest near the Provo River, this campground has 34 sites. Campers come here to hike, fish, and enjoy the beautiful mountain veiws. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 30 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 40 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The campground is open from late May to early September, depending on snowfall.

Washington Lake Campground is located 24 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 10,000 feet. Set in a ponderosa pine forest on Washington Lake with beautiful mountain views, this campground has 40 sites. Campers come here to fish, swim, boat, and hike up the nearby Crystal Lake Trailhead. The camp hosts at Washington Lake also care for one group site and two vault toilets at Crystal Lake Trailhead, one mile away. Sewer hookups are available, and water can be filled at the trailhead. Hours are 50 hours per week per couple. The campground is open from late June to early September, depending on snowfall.


Trial Lake Campground is located 25 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 9900 feet. Set in a ponderosa pine forest on Trial Lake with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, this campground has 60 sites. Campers come here to fish, boat, and hike the nearby Crystal Lake Trailhead. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 60 hours per week per couple. This campground is open from late June or early July to early September, depending on snowfall.

Lilly Lake Campground is located 27 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 9800 feet. Set on Lilly Lake in a ponderosa pine forest, this campground has 14 sites and beautiful mountain views. Campers come here to fish for trout, boat, and hike. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 20 hours per week per couple. This campground is open from late June to early September, depending on snowfall.

Lost Creek Campground is located 28 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 9900 feet. Set among ponderosa pines along Lost Creek, this campground has 35 sites. Campers come here to fish, boat, and hike. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 40 hours per week per couple. The campground is open from late June to early September, depending on snowfall.

Moosehorn Campground is located 30 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 10,400 feet. Situated in an open conifer forest on Moosehorn Lake, this campground has 34 sites. Campers come here to fish, boat, and hike. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 35 hours per week per couple. This campground is open from late June to early September, depending on snowfall.


Mirror Lake Campground is located 32 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 10,200 feet. Set in an open conifer grove on Mirror Lake, this campground has 80 sites. Campers come here to fish, hike, and boat. Two couples work together to care for this facility. Water and sewer hookups are available. Hours are 50 hours per week per couple. This campground is open from the end of June to the beginning of September, depending on snowfall.

Butterfly Campground is located 35 miles from Kamas at an elevation of 10,300 feet. Set in an open grove of spruce and pine on Butterfly Lake, this campground has 20 sites. Campers come here to fish, boat and hike. Water hookups are available. Hours are 20 hours per week per couple. The campground is open from late June to early September, depending on snowfall.
