Wasatch-Cache - Salt Lake

Summer or winter, if you're looking for a beautiful place to get away from the city and play in Utah, the Wasatch-Cache National Forest is it. Comprised of beautiful canyons, soaring peaks, pristine hidden lakes, rivers and streams, the views will take your breath away. The Wasatch-Cache is also home to some of the world's premier ski areas. Fishermen enjoy the trout-stocked rivers and streams. Campers come here from across the country to hike, mountain bike, ride horses, boat, swim, ski, sled, and enjoy the natural beauty of these rugged mountains.

American Land & Leisure currently runs nine different facilities in the Salt Lake Area.

Salt Lake's area managers live and work at Jordan Pines Campground. Located 12 miles from Park City at an elevation of 5000 feet, this campground has 5 group camp sites. Set in a conifer forest near Silver Lake, campers come here for church outings, family reunions, and company parties. Full hookups and phone service are available to the hosts. This is a salaried position. The campground is open from June to September, depending on snow melt.

Dogwood Day Use Area is located 3 miles from Midvale at an elevation of 4800 feet. Situated in a forest area along Cottonwood Creek, this facility has 6 sites. Folks come here to fish, but not to wade or swim, as it is part of the watershed. The host for this area also cares for Ledgemere Day Use Area and Birches Day Use Area. Both are located just 2 miles away, and need to be checked 3 or 4 times daily during the summer season. With these two facilities, the host is responsible for a total of 24 sites. Full hookups are available to the host. Hours are 40 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 50 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The day use areas are open from June to September, depending on snowfall.

Tanner's Flat Campground is located 10 miles from Sandy at an elevation of 7200 feet. Set on a stream in a conifer forest, this campground has 40 sites and 4 group sites. Campers come here to hike up to Secret Lake or just relax and enjoy the beautiful setting and fresh air. Full hookups are available to hosts. Hours are 60 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 80 hours per week per couple during the peak season. Two host sites are available at this location, and if two host couples are hired, these hours are split. The campground is open from June to September, depending on the snowfall.


Spruces Campgrounds is located 10 miles east of Salt Lake City at an elevation of 7400 feet. Set in a large open meadow near Silver Lake, this campground has 98 single sites, 9 group sites, a pavilion and picnic area. Campers come here to fish, hike, bike, and generally enjoy the beauty and clean air. Three sets of hosts work together to care for this facility. Full hookups are available to hosts. Hours are 40 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 60 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The campground is open from June to September, depending on snow fall.

Storm Mountain Day Use Area is located 6 miles from Brighton at an elevation of 5200 feet. Set on the forested banks of Cottonwood Creek, this campground has 15 single sites and 3 group day use areas. Folks come here to fish, hike, and picnic. There is no overnight camping in this area. Full hookups and phone service are available to the hosts. Hours are 30 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 40 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The facility is open from May to September depending on snowfall.


Redman Campground is located 9 miles from Park City at an elevation of 8300 feet. Set in a mixed conifer forest on a small stream, this campground has 40 sites and 5 small group sites. Campers come here to fish, bike, rock climb, and hike the trail to Silver Lake. Full hookups and phone service are available to hosts. Hours are 40 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 50 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The campground is open from June to September, depending on snow fall.

Albion Basin Campground is one of the true gems of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Located 15 miles from Sandy at an elevation of 9500 feet, this campground has 26 sites. Known for its spectacular wildflowers and views, this gorgeous campground brings nature lovers in from across the country. The campground has a small stream with good fishing. Campers also come to hike, bike, take pictures, and relax. Water, sewer, and electric hookups are available to the hosts. Hours are 30 hours per week per couple during the regular season and 35 hours per week per couple during the peak season. The campground is open from the first week of July to September, depending on snowfall.
