Clear Creek Ranger District

The Clear Creek Ranger District provides endless opportunities for fishing, camping, hiking and scenic drives just outside of Denver.  Home to the highest paved road in North America, the Mount Evans Scenic Byway is 14,000 feet above sea level.   Come and enjoy the peace an solitude of the Rocky Mountains in one of our beautiful campgrounds.

 

Cold Springs

Cold Springs Campground and Picnic Area has camping sites nestled in an aspen and lodgepole pine forest.  On highway 119, just 5 miles north of the town of Blackhawk, there is plenty of hiking, fishing and scenic views nearby.

Pickle Gulch Group

5 group campsites are set in a lodgepole pine forest on Highway 119.  Pickle Gulch Group sites can accommodate various-sized groups from 15 to 150 people.  This is a tents-only campground.   An amphitheater and playground are provided.

Columbine                                                          

41 of the 46 campsites in Columbine Campground are suitable for RVs but there are no hookups at the sites.  Set in an aspen and Lodgepole pine forest this campground is a popular place for campers accessing the nearby Peak-to-Peak Highway and 4-wheeling areas.

Echo Lake

17 sites are situated at the base of Mount Evans along Highway 103 in spruce forest.  10 sites are suitable for RVs but no hookups are available.  7 sites are more suitable for tents in Echo Lake Campground.

West Chicago Creek

West Chicago Creek is in an aspen and lodgepole pine forest setting.  All 15 sites are suitable for small RV camping.  There are no off road vehicle trails in the area and no OHV's allowed in the campground. Easy access to hiking trails in the Mount Evans wilderness.

Guanella Pass

Guanella Pass Campground is located west of Denver, Colorado, and south of Georgetown on the South Fork of Clear Creek in spruce forests.  The campground has 17 sites with some suitable for RVs but no hookups are available. Nearby activities include hiking, fishing, visiting historic Georgetown and local ghost towns.

Clear Lake

8 sites are available to first-come-first-served campers in Clear Lake Campground on Guanella Pass Road.  Tents and small camp trailers are welcome in this small, rustic, campground.
