1. Santa Clara River Trail, #31023

Distance: 2 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: 300’
This is a wonderful day hike type trail through heart of the Pine Valley Recreation Area, Many users begin their hike at the trailhead located in the Mitt Moody Loop on the eastern side of the recreation area and hike downhill towards the entrance station. There are various access points along the trail to enter and exit. Looking to raise that heart rate? Start at the Entrance Station and hike up the trail.

2. Brown's Point Trail, #31008

Distance: ~4 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~2,500’ | Moderate/Strenuous
This trail heads south from the recreation area and the trailhead is located west of the Crackfoot Loop. This hike is more strenuous and connects to the Summit Trail, #31021.

3. Equestrian Trail, #31036

Distance: ~2 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~300’
This trail parallels the recreation area on the south side and is part of a larger trail system,. This section is a ~2 mile section near the recreation area. There are three access points to the Equestrian Trail within the Pine Valley Recreation Area: on the west side access is at the Equestrian Loop, in the middle access in at the Browns Point Trailhead, and on the east side access is at the Whipple Trailhead just east of Ebenezer Bryce Loop.

4. Whipple Trail, #31025

Distance: ~6 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~2,500’ | Moderate/Strenuous
Get ready for some switchbacks! This trail heads east from the east side of the recreation area and connects to Summit Trail, #31021. From the top there are amazing views of the valley. Head east from the Ebenezer Bryce Loop to find the Whipple Trailhead.

5. Pine Valley Canal Trail, #31031

Distance: ~3 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~300’
The trail parallels the recreation area on the north side. Most users begin at the trailhead located in the Mitt Moody Loop on the east side of the recreation area. At about halfway the trail crosses the Gardner Peak Trail, which can be a short hike to an access point. The second half of the trail continues on to Cemetery Trail, #31032 west of the recreation area and a short hike drops you into the town of Pine Valley. Later in the season keep and eye out for a rafter of wild turkeys that love the trail.

6. Gardner Peak Trail, #31006

Distance: ~4 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~2,250’ | Moderate/Strenuous
The Gardner Peak Trailhead in on the western side of the recreation area near the Entrance Station. The trail heads north, crosses the Pine Valley Canal Trail, continues north and then bends to the east toward Gardner Peak. Upon reaching the end of the trail, remember to congratulate yourself: You’ve come a long way baby! Savor the view and snap some pics. Gardner Peak summit is at 9,488'. Remember to save some gas in the tank for return hike.

7. Forsyth Canyon, #31012

Distance: ~4.5 miles, 1-way | Elevation Change: ~2,500’ | Moderate/Strenuous
This trailhead is located on the south side of the town of Pine Valley, however many user access the Forsyth Canyon Trail from the Equestrian Loops within the recreation area. Leave from Equestrian Trailhead, jump on the Equestrian Trail and head west! In about 1.5 miles the Equestrian Trail connects to the Forsyth Canyon Trail. Now head south and in about 4 more miles you’ll find yourself connecting to the Summit Trail, #31021.
