Huron Manistee National Forest
Cadillac Manistee Ranger District
The Huron-Manistee National Forest is located in the rolling, forested hills of Michigan's lower peninsula. Split down the middle, half of the forest is located in the East, near Lake Huron. All of the campgrounds American Land & Leisure runs are part of the other half; located on the western edge of the peninsula, on or near Lake Michigan, within a day's drive of Chicago, Detroit, and Grand Rapids. These beautiful campgrounds draw tourists to their quiet forest trails, wildflower covered meadows, and cool rivers to hike, swim and canoe. Bird watching, mountain biking, hunting, and horseback riding are also available.
Peterson Bridge Campground
Campers come out to fish for trout, salmon and steelhead in the nearby river. Peterson Bridge is the only campground on the Pine River.
Seaton Creek Campground
Seaton Creek is a first-come-first-served campground with 17 campsites. It is a rustic setting in a mixed forest on the shallow Seaton Creek. The campground has access to the Manistee River Trail and the Hodenpyl Dam Pond backwater from the Manistee River. Campers enjoy kayaking and hiking.
Lake Michigan Campground
Situated in a hardwood forest about twelve miles from Freesoil, this campground has 99 campsites, many trailheads, a beach and a playground. Campers also come out to fish for trout in Lake Michigan. There is no traffic noise, and the sunsets are spectacular. If there's a breeze, you can hear the waves crashing on the beach from the sites.
Sand Lake Campground
Sand Lake Campground is located about a mile and a half from Dublin, in a mixed hardwood forest on Sand Lake. Campers come out to hike local trails, fish in the lake, or just get away. This campground is close to a gas station and grocery store, but off the beaten track.
Hemlock Campground
This small campground near Cadillac is on the west end of Lake Mitchell. A boat launch provides access to this 1,600 acre lake. Wildlife is plentiful.
Bear Track Campground
A 1.5 mile trail connects the campground to the North Country National Scenic Trail. Fishing is a popular activity for this area.
Pine Lake Campground
Located on the shores of Pine Lake, this campground is popular for swimming and boating.
