/Upper Blue Lake Damsite Campground
PG&E Motherlode Watershed \ Carson Pass Area
Blue Lakes are just 12 miles south of the Carson Pass Highway (Hwy 88) in Northern California. PG&E manages the hydroelectric power plants on the lakes, provides campgrounds and access to the lakes for fishing, swimming and boating with small boats.
The Upper Blue Lake Damsite Campground is near the dam on Upper Blue Lake. Ten single sites are open to first-come-first-served campers from mid-June through mid-October. Campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets, drinking water and a garbage dumpster are provided onsite.
Hikers enjoy an easy 3-mile trail around Upper Blue Lake, a 2-mile hike up to Granite Lake and a nearby portion of the Pacific Crest Trail. OHV trails are also in the area.
