Stuart Campground is nestled in the mountains of West Virginia along the Shavers Fork River.  Located approximately 6 miles NE of Elkins at the junction of WV Route 6 and Stuart Memorial Drive ( Forest Road 91).  The campground is open until Oct 5, 2014.  Feel free to call for more info:  (304) 636-5070.

All 26 campsites are suitable for both tent and trailer camping and can accommodate a 53-foot tow/vehicle combination.  Each has 30 amp electrical hookup.  A shower facility is available in the campground and a dump station is onsite.  Just north of the entrance is a large grassy area for group tent camping.  It accommodates 40 people and has picnic tables, fire rings, accessible vault toilets and hand pump for drinking water.

The area has two hiking trails: Turkey Scratch Interpretive Nature Trail (#105) which is .8 mile long; and River Loop Trail (#119) which is 2 miles in length.  Local trails lead to outstanding overlooks, local caves and Blackwater Falls.

Fishing for trout in the Shavers Fork River is a popular activity.  The river is stocked with rainbow, brown, golden rainbow and brook trout.

A small beach is provided for swimming in the Shavers Fork River.  Non-accessible changing room and restroom facilities are available but does not have showers.

Stuart Recreation Area also offers picnicking facilities for groups up to 25, 50 or 100 people.  Each of the 3 pavilions may be reserved for your group day use.  The large pavilion (for 100 people) has electricity.
