Terwilliger Hot Springs, nicknamed Cougar Hot Springs after the adjacent reservoir, is truly a gem tucked back into the lush mountain forest. This clothing-optional hot springs is open year-round but the road getting there can be treacherous in the winter months. If the gravel road has snow on it, please consider coming back another day.
From Blue River, travel 4 miles east on Hwy 126 to Aufderheide Drive (Road 19). Continue on Aufderheide Drive for 7.5 miles to the Terwilliger Hot Springs parking lot. The hike is 1/4 mile to the hot springs.
The area is closed from sundown to sunup. There is a per-person fee payable at the entrance. No alcohol and no visible nudity is allowed from Aufderheide Scenic Byway (Forest Road 19). The springs are also closed for a few hours each week for a good cleaning (Thursdays from 8am - noon).
Pit toilets are provided at the parking area and near the springs. Pets are not allowed in or near the springs. Leaving your pet at home is recommended or you must tie them up outside the springs area.
