French Pete Campground, McKenzie River, Oregon
/French Pete Campground
Willamette National Forest \ McKenzie River Ranger District
At the confluence of the South Fork of the McKenzie River and French Pete Creek lies this sleepy little campground of 17 sites. Vine maple with the backdrop of Douglas fir makes for an amazing show of color in spring and fall. French Pete Campground has vault toilets, water from a hand pump, garbage service, and waste water disposal sites. A picnic table and fire ring are in each campsite.
Campers enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming and boating. The McKenzie River is “catch and release” only for trout. The Three Sisters Wilderness Area as well as French Pete Trail are very popular for hiking. Take a soak in the nearby Terwilliger (Cougar) Hot Springs. Boat in Cougar Reservoir or explore many other outdoor activities in the Cougar Recreation Area.
