A high-clearance vehicle is recommended to drive the 5-mile, native-surfaced road, into the campground. Rainbow Lakes is open from about mid-June through mid-September depending on the snowfall for this 10,000' location. The route is gated during the winter.
No reservations are taken for the 18 campsites and they fill up for weekends on Friday morning. Sites can accommodate small trailers or tents within the 14x16 foot tent pad. Picnic tables, fire rings, trash receptacles and vault toilets are provided. Potable water is not provided. Bring your own drinking water or treat water out of lakes and streams before drinking.
