Navy Camp, Lake Pillsbury, California

Navy Camp Campground

PG&E Drum West \ Potter Valley

Navy Campground is a quaint little campground at the end of Gravelly Valley Air Strip on Lake Pillsbury, CA.  Pacific, Gas & Electric (PG&E) maintains Lake Pillsbury for hydro-electric power.

The air strip makes Navy Camp convenient for fly-in camping but non-winged vehicles are also welcomed.  A trail provides access to Lake Pillsbury.  Navy has 20 campsites with  picnic tables, fire rings and paved parking spots.  Drinking water and vault toilets are provided.  The campground is open from late April through Labor Day.  Campsites are first-come-first-served.  Follow the link for current forest alerts, rates and directions to Navy Campground.

Campers enjoy hiking and biking in addition to swimming, fishing and boating (motorized and non) on Lake Pillsbury.  ATV's are not allowed on trails during the busy summer camping season.  Follow the link to read one blogger's report of mountain biking on the Mendocino National Forest.
