Hiking alternative to Yosemite's Half Dome

Hiking Lassen

Has Yosemite become too crowded for your taste?  Check out Lassen Volcanic National Park.   Hiking Lassen Peak is comparable to Yosemite's Half Dome with these slight differences:  Lassen Peak is higher, lacks the cables and is easier to summit.

The park rewards scenic drivers and hikers with waterfalls, wildflowers, clear mountain lakes, miles of trails and intriguing geology.  Enjoy Yellowstone-like volcanic and geothermal features along the Bumpass Hell Trail or the popular Cinder Cone Trail.  Climb rugged Brokeoff Mountain for a rewarding 360° view that includes Mt. Shasta and Lassen Peak.

Scenic views include an overlook of Lake Almanor near Chester, CA.  PG&E campgrounds in the area are open to the public and are close enough for a day of hiking on Mt Lassen: Lake Almanor Area
