National Forest campgrounds are a great place to view the northern lights as you are far away from the light pollution of large cities. If you see a parting of the clouds, the northern lower peninsula is in prime position to see the aurora tonight, Friday and Saturday night.
Although this is the last weekend for camping in most of the Huron-Manistee National Forest these Michigan campgrounds are open through Oct 13, 2014 (weather permitting):
